For more than twenty years, Michael Mixer has been one of the most trusted and respected commercial real estate brokers in Las Vegas. His influence and involvement in significant land transactions in southern Nevada has dramatically changed the visual landscape of our city and has created economic growth opportunities that are unparalleled in the country. An expert in the resort land market, Michael’s extensive market reports, demographic studies, and land value analyses have been used by many of the top development and investment firms throughout the world. Michael has been a dominant force in the company’s success in all aspects of the real estate business and has consistently been ranked one of the top three brokers at Colliers International with billions of dollars in real estate transactions.
During the past decade, Las Vegas has become a truly international city, drawing investors and real estate interest from all parts of the country and the world. As a result, Michael has become increasingly more fluent in global economic trends and real estate issues in order to meet the demands of clients, brokers and prospective real estate partners. Most recently, Michael has been involved with the MGM/Dubai partnership, and has assisted with the evaluation of the holdings and value of the City Center project.
Michael earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Investment Finance and a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Administration from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He began his career in the Resort/Gaming field in 1987 as a casino marketing specialist, working for Steve Wynn at the Golden Nugget Hotel. Michael began his Commercial Real Estate career in Las Vegas in 1988 with a firm that built and owned numerous office, retail, and resort projects throughout Southern Nevada and California.
In 1993, Michael formed Colliers International Las Vegas with his partner, James Stuart, which has since become the leading full-service commercial real estate firm in Southern Nevada. In 2004, Michael formed the Mixed Use Division, recently restructured and named the Resort & Gaming Group with partner Alex Rodrigo, with a primary focus on urban high-rise projects, gaming properties, mixed-use and redevelopment sites in and around the Las Vegas resort corridors and University District. In the past two years, the Resort & Gaming Group closed more than $1.2 billion in transactions and represented such notable clients as MGM MIRAGE, The Related Companies, American Nevada Corporation, Wynn Resorts and Morgans Hotel Group. In 2008, Michael was recognized by Colliers International USA for the largest land sale in the United States for the year. Michael Mixer is continually sought after for his knowledge and experience in the continuing evolution of the Las Vegas resort corridor, particularly among an increasing international client base.
As a Colliers USA Manager for the past 10 years, Michael has also been a liaison between the Las Vegas Market and Colliers International offices around the globe, attending national & international conferences and Colliers owners/manager meetings throughout the United States and abroad. This role has enabled Michael to meet on a consistent basis with other Colliers Managers and Owners from around the country and the world.
Since 2006, Michael has served on the Board of Directors for Colliers International Parrish Partnership, owner of 12 Colliers offices in the California San Francisco Bay area, Reno, Nevada, and Las Vegas. He was selected to be the Chairman of the Strategic Committee, where he has been active in guiding the Company’s growth and maintaining its dominance in the Western Region of the United States. In 2009, Michael was elected to the Colliers USA Board of Directors and serves to help guide the direction and success of Colliers International in the United States.
Because of his knowledge and expertise in national real estate trends, and given his role as founding partner of Colliers International – Las Vegas, Michael was the natural choice to serve as Managing Partner for the Las Vegas office. As Managing Partner, he provided seamless guidance and stability for the firm and its brokers.
A resident of Las Vegas since 1982, Michael has been an active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), served on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Office and Industrial Properties (NAIOP), was a past chairperson for NAIOP’s Commercial Real Estate Political Action Committee, and is a founding bank board member of the Black Mountain Community Bank. Michael also is co-founder of the Links for Life Foundation; a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to raising and distributing funds for disadvantaged children in Southern Nevada, and has completed special projects for Opportunity Village and the Children’s Miracle Network. In addition to regular requests for consultative roles in various development projects, Michael is frequently asked to be a guest speaker or panelist for symposiums, conferences, and other events where his real estate expertise brings value and credibility.
